Woods awarded SWAC weekly honor

ITTA BENA -- Mississippi Valley State senior linebacker Keven Woods was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week after a dominate defensive peformance at Southern last Thursday.

The San Diego native had 14 tackles (6 solo), including one tackle for a loss of seven yards. He also had one pass-breakup and a forced fumble.

Woods is the first MVSU player to earn the award this season.

Meanwhile, Woods was also a part of an MVSU defense which was named FCS Defense of the Week by BSN following their 6-0 win at Southern. The Delta Devils shutout the Jaguars and limited them to 197 yards of total offense, forced two turnovers, had 10 tackles for loss and three sacks.
