ITTA BENA -- Five Mississippi Valley State softball players have been recognized by College Sports Madness as preseason All-SWAC selections.

Meanwhile, MVSU freshman Carmen Hill was tabbed SWAC Freshman of the Year, senior Alicia Lorenz was chosen as Pitcher of  the Year, and Devilette head coach Lee Smith was named Coach of the Year.

MVSU standouts on the College Sports Madness All-SWAC First Team include Lorenz and senior first baseman Kishti Kamaka. The second team consists of three MVSU seniors: catcher Nicole Burr, third baseman Alexandria Robertson and second baseman Alexandra Sullivan.

The Devilettes are scheduled to open their 2013 season Feb. 8 at the Mardi Gras Classic, hosted by Louisiana-Monroe.
