ITTA BENA – Following a 28-9 win at Alabama A&M, two Mississippi Valley State football players were honored Monday for their performances against the Bulldogs.
Defensive end Sean Fugate was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week while Terrance Hudson was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
Fugate, a junior transfer from Glendale Community College, had six tackles (5 solo) with two tackles for loss and an interception.
Meanwhile, Greenwood native Terrance Hudson made a smooth transition from wide receiver to safety in his second game at his new position. He had six tackles and two interceptions, including one on the final play of the game.
"The thing that he brings to the defensive side is that he's one of our most aggressive defenders," said MVSU coach Karl Morgan. "He doesn't mind contact. I thought he had a good game in his first start on defense."
