Box Score DEKALB, Ill. -- Mississippi Valley State's A'Shanti Weathers matched a career-high 20 points Tuesday night in a 79-60 loss at Northern Illinois at the NIU Convocation Center.
The Miami native made 6-of-12 shots -- including a pair of 3-pointers -- but the Devilettes (0-3) were unable to upset the Huskies in the first-ever meeting between the teams.
Weathers, however, wasn't the only Devilette to stand out. Freshman Ashley Beals filled up the box score with 14 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in 32 minutes of action. Heather Freeman chipped in 10 points and six boards.
Valley shot 43.6 percent from the field and converted 7-of-17 shots from the free throw line. However, UNI beat the Devilettes on the boards, 51-33.
Natecia Augusta led the Huskies with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
MVSU will be back in action Thursday at 7 p.m. at Illinois.
