ITTA BENA – Mississippi Valley State has announced the appointment of Joseph Arnold as Associate Athletic Director of Compliance. Prior to joining MVSU, Arnold served as Compliance Coordinator at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He worked in conjunction with the Director of Compliance on the daily functions of the department, overseeing 200 student-athletes in 12 sports. His duties included coordinating rules education programs to ensure NCAA, SWAC, and university rules and regulations; and monitoring amateurism, athletic participation, and phone and practice logs.

Before joining UAPB, he served as a volunteer athletics compliance intern at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2010-13. While working in an intern capacity, Arnold played an extensive and integral role in the daily functions of the Compliance Department.

Arnold's background also includes a stint as a compliance intern for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and an assistant to the director of football operations at UAB.

The Pritchard, Ala. native was a standout letter winner in football at UAB. He earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology from UAB and a master's degree in Sports Science in Sports Management with an emphasis in NCAA compliance from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala.

He is the father of one daughter, Saniyah, and is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
