ITTA BENA – Mississippi Valley State University has officially added former graduate intern Hakim McClellan to its athletic compliance staff.

The Gulfport, Miss. native, who has served as a graduate intern at MVSU in the athletic department since September 2012, has taken over duties as the Eligibility Specialist / Compliance Coordinator, a newly-created position in the MVSU Athletic Department.

McClellan will be responsible for a variety of duties including coordinating with coaching staffs to verify compliance to student athletic eligibility standards. He will also be responsible for the monitoring of departmental compliance with NCAA and SWAC rules and regulations.

McCellan, who lettered in both football and track and field, earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from MVSU in 2010 and is currently pursuing his master's in Business Administration from Valley.
