Mississippi Valley State junior guard Davon Usher has been named Co-SWAC Basketball Player of the Week.

The Baltimore native averaged 27.5 points and seven rebounds as the Delta Devils defeated Alcorn State on Saturday before falling to Southern on Monday.  Against Alcorn, Usher poured in 30 points and made 6 of 10 shots from behind the arch.

He followed it up with a 25-point, 10-rebound performance Monday night against the SWAC’s top-ranked team Southern University.

In the two-game span, Usher shot 52 percent from the field and 84 percent from the free throw line. He made 8 of 14 three-pointers and averaged a pair of steals.
Usher is the first MVSU player to win the award this season. The Delta Devils will be on the road at Prairie View Saturday for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
