Mississippi Valley State senior forward Alia Frank has been named SWAC Basketball Player of the Week.

The Natchez native averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in wins over Alcorn State and Southern University. She shot 75 percent from the field.

Against Alcorn State, Frank had 16 points and three blocks in a 65-57 victory over the Lady Braves. Then, in a 61-57 win over Southern on Monday, she put up 11 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.

Frank is the first MVSU player to win the award this season. The Devilettes will be on the road at Prairie View Saturday for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
