NEW ORLEANS -- Both the men and women Mississippi Valley State outdoor track and field teams finished in third place Sunday at the SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
Despite not taking home the top prize, MVSU did garner a couple individual accomplishements. Tambriya Barney claimed the Most Outstanding Field Performer accolades, finishing with 20 points. She took first place in the Long Jump (10) and Triple Jump (10).
Meanwhile, Daniel Kibet was tabbed the Most Outstanding Runner, sweeping all of the distance events: 1500m, 5000m and 10000 to pile up 30 points.
On the men's side, Grambling State claimed the title for the fifth consecutive year. Prairie View came in second while Valley claimed the third spot with 117 points. For full results, click

In the women's competition, Alabama State took first place for the fourth straight year while Prairie View finished second and MVSU claimed the third place spot with 101.33 points.
