Each day leading up to the NCAA Softball Tournament on Friday, an MVSU senior softball student-athlete will be featured in the postseason edition of Senior Spotlight. In the spotlight today is pitcher Kimberly Spivey.
1. How did it feel to end your senior year with a SWAC Tournament championship? It feels really good! I knew we could do it and we did. We fought hard all year, so when we won it felt well earned.
2. After the loss to Prairie View on the opening day, did you imagine winning five straight games en route to the title? Yes I did, just because of the fight I know our team has. Our coaching staff instilled in us the idea of being champions and we wanted nothing less.
3. Is this conference championship more special than previous ones? If so, why? Yes, just for the simple fact it's my last championship to ever win. I had an amazing group of girls to play my last year of college ball with.
4. How do you believe the lessons you learned as a MVSU softball year will benefit you later on in life? Being a part of this program for four years has really taught me hard work and dedication to something bigger then myself. It has turned me into a self-disciplined young lady with the heart to never give up.
