Each day leading up to the NCAA Softball Tournament on Friday, an MVSU senior softball student-athlete will be featured in the postseason edition of Senior Spotlight. In the spotlight today is catcher Nicole Burr.
1. How did it feel to end your senior year with a SWAC Tournament championship?
At the beginning it didn't feel like much. It hardly felt like SWAC Tournament at all. But now that the awe struck emotions have faded, I feel accomplished.
2. After the loss to Prairie View on the opening day, did you imagine winning five straight games en route to the title? After the loss to Prairie View, I knew we made it that much harder for ourselves to accomplish what we had come to achieve. I knew that we would have to tackle one game at a time, no matter how many games we had to play. I lived in the moment of each game because those games were the main focus to the bigger picture.
3. Is this conference championship more special than previous ones? If so, why? No, this championship was not more special than the previous years. It is another accomplishment that I can be proud of.
4. How do you believe the lessons you learned as a MVSU softball year will benefit you later on in life? The lessons I've learned as a softball player here at Mississippi Valley will further benefit me later in life. The lessons to handle animosity, stress, pressure, and drama that comes with being an athlete taught me to stay calm and clear minded.
