MVSU coach assists at camps

NEW ORLEANS -- Mississippi Valley State University assistant football coach David Cunningham served as an instructor Wednesday at the NCAA Youth Football Clinic at Joe Brown Park in New Orleans.

Cunningham, who serves as the special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach for the Delta Devils, was one of 20 college coaches who worked the camp for youth ages 5-14.

The clinic was hosted by the Allstate Sugar Bowl and R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl in partnership with NCAA Football's Youth Initiative. This clinic, one of 21 held nationwide over the summer, gave participants the opportunity to meet and work with college coaches to complete on-field agility drills, offensive and defensive training.

Cunningham, along with senior receiver Kenneth Dabney, also recently took part in the prestigious Manning Passing Academy at Nicholls State University. It marked the sixth year that Cunningham has participated in the event.

Dabney, a New Orleans native, completed a workout July 16 with New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and Peyton Manning, of the Denver Broncos, among others. He also returned Saturday to compete in the Air-It-Out exhibition.
