ITTA BENA -- Mississippi Valley State senior defensive lineman Robert Simpson has been named to the Boxtorow Preseason All-America Team, adding to his long list of preseason awards. He has also been named to the CFPA Watch List for National Defensive Performer of the Year.

The Gulfport native is one of eight SWAC student-athletes to earn a spot on the team. Last season, Simpson finished second in FCS in tackles for loss with 22.5. He aslo finished fourth in the conference in sacks with seven while recording two fumbles and 59 tackles (29 solo).

So far this preseason, he has been honored with the following awards:
