ICC's Wheeler inks with MVSU baseball

ITTA BENA --- Itawamba Community College's Drew Wheeler has signed with Mississippi Valley State University. He is currently batting .295 in 122 at-bats with a .412 on-base percentage and .385 slugging percentage while scoring 30 runs and driving in 22 runs on 36 hits this season. "It's an honor and glory that God has blessed me to be able to play baseball this long," said Wheeler. "I'm so pleased to be able to play two more years of ball and maybe more than that. I can't wait to get down (to Mississippi Valley) and show them my ability."

"ICC has been a great starting place for me. Coach Collier, Coach Alex Williamson and Coach Justin Bryant have all helped me grow and helped me get better as a baseball player. They taught me all the little things that you don't really learn in high school and I'm really appreciative of that."

The outfielder from Mooreville has five doubles, two home runs and 7 stolen bases.
