German Hays came through with what proved to be the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth with a 2-run single as the Delta Devils upended the Jackrabbits, 4-3, at Legion Field.
The win ends a seven-game losing streak for MVSU (2-9, 1-3 SWAC), which is scheduled to face SDSU at 1 p.m. Saturday in Greenville.
Before Hays' big hit, Seth Milliorn, who led MVSU with two hits, cut the Jackrabbits' lead to 3-2 on an RBI-single.
David Lostra (1-2), who worked three innings in relief, earned his first victory of the season. He allowed just two hits and no runs with a pair of strikeouts.
