Sanders, Silas lead Devilettes to win over Tuskegee

Box Score ITTA BENA -- Derita Silas and Joncyee Sanders led Mississippi Valley State to a 66-45 win over Tuskegee Saturday at the Harrison HPER Complex.

Silas, a freshman from Jim Hill High School, had 12 points and a career-high eight rebounds while Delta State transfer Joncyee Sanders filled up the box score. Sanders put up 12 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three blocks.

The Devilettes (3-5) held the lead the entire game and limited the Tigerettes (2-4) to 29 percent shooting from the field. Tuskegee made just 2-of-20 three-point attempts and was outrebounded by Valley 49 to 38.

Alia Frank chipped in 11 points for MVSU. The Devilettes shot 38.3 percent from the field and connected on 15-of-21 free throw attempts.

Alannah Vincent led Tuskegee with nine points off the bench.

The Devilettes will be on the road at Arkansas on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Arkansas. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
