ITTA BENA -- The Mississippi Valley State softball team opened their home slate Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Central Arkansas.

Xiomara Perez accounted for three of the Devilettes' three hits, with a third-inning homerun and a double.

Alicia Lorenz (7-7) got the win, working all seven innings -- allowing six hits with seven strikeouts.

MVSU (13-15) will compete in the SWAC Round Up Tournament March 23-25 in Hattiesburg. The Devilettes will face Southern, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Grambling, Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern during the three-day tournament.
