CONYERS, Ga. – The Mississippi Valley State softball team is back to their winning ways.

This past weekend, the Devilettes defeated four opponents to win the Tiny Lassiter Classic.

MVSU (8-9) defeated South Carolina State, 8-1, and Florida A&M, 8-0, on Saturday before taking down Savannah State, 11-1, and North Carolina A&T, 9-0, on Sunday. 

Valley has now won its last five games and eight of its last nine.

The Devilettes started off the weekend with an 8-1 pounding on South Carolina State. Kimberly Spivey earned the win while Cassandra Rivera picked up the save. MVSU outhit its opponent 17 to 2. Briana Holmes and Nicole Burr had three hits apiece while Alexandra Sullivan had three RBIs.

MVSU ended Saturday night with a 8-1 win over Florida A&M. Alicia Lorenz pitched all five innings and earned the win on the mound. The junior from Paradise, Calif. threw a no-hitter and struck out seven batters. Xiomara Perez, meanwhile, had three of eight hits for the Devilettes.

In the final game, against North Carolina A&T, the Devilettes had another shutout, defeating the Aggies 9-0. Lorenz earned another win, allowing just one hit with five strikeouts.

Alexandria Robertson had a pair of hits while Yasmine Battle chipped in four RBIs.

MVSU will be on the road Tuesday to face Delta State at 6 p.m.
