Devilettes stay undefeated in SWAC

NORMAL, Ala. -- The Mississippi Valley State softball team kept their unblemised conference record in tact over the weekend with a three-game sweep over Alabama A&M.

The Devilettes (20-17, 7-0 SWAC) handled the Lady Bulldogs 10-1 and 14-0 on Friday before completing the sweep on Saturday with a 5-1 victory.

Game 1
MVSU used two big innings to ease past Alabama A&M with four runs in the first inning and five runs in the seventh inning. The Devilettes pounded out 11 hits and Alicia Lorenz earned the victory for the Devilettes, striking out eight batters in six innings of work.

Game 2
The Devilettes needed just five innings to down the Lady Dogs, using nine runs throught the first two innings. MVSU picked up five additional runs in the fourth and fifth inning.

The Devilettes had 19 hits. Alexandra Sullivan went 4-for-4 with four RBIs to lead Valley to the easy victory. Jessika Sandoval and Shana Ladner had three hits apiece and combined for four RBIs.

Kimberly Spivey three a one-hitter in four innings of work. She struck out five batters.

Game 3
MVSU used three runs in the sixth inning to end the weekend with a 3-0 record. Alicia Lorenz picked up her second victory over the Lady Bulldogs, striking out 10 batters in six innigns of work.
