Devilette softball goes winless at ULL Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 LAFAYETTE, La. -- The Mississippi Valley State softball team was unable to capture a victory during the three-day tournament from Friday to Sunday, hosted by Lousiana-Lafayette.

Game 1 (ULL 13, MVSU 2)
MVSU scored its only runs of the game in the third inning on a two-run single by Nicole Burr as Louisiana-Lafayette defeated the Devilettes in five innings. Valley finished with two hits in the game with Alexandria Robertson accounting for the other one.

Kimberly Spivey (1-2) suffered the loss. She allowed 10 earned runs on five hits with eight walks and one strikeout.

Game 2 (ULL 16, MVSU 4)
La.-Lafayette scored 13 runs in the first two innings and never looked back as the defeated the Devilettes in five innings. MVSU scored its only runs of the game in the fourth inning on a two-run double by Brittany Lilly and an RBI single by Xiomara Perez.

Alicia Lorenz (0-3) suffered the loss after allowing 13 runs (11 earned) on 11 hits with one strikeout.


Game 3 (Texas State 7, MVSU 5)
Valley scored three runs in the final inning but they still came up short against Texas State. Brittany Lilly knocked in a first-inning run for the Devilettes and Nicole Burr hit a solo homerun in the fifth.

MVSU hit two more homeruns in the seventh inning when Alexandria Robertson hit a 2-run shot followed by Burr's second solo homerun of the game.

Kimberly Spivey (1-3) suffered the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) in two innings of work.

Game 4 (Texas State 5, MVSU 4)
Texas State scored four runs in the fifth inning to ease by MVSU, who suffered its fifth straight loss. MVSU's Alexandria Robertson hit a homerun in the first inning while Brittany Lilly and Alexandra Sullivan each batted in a run in the fifth for the Devilettes, who held a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the inning.

Alicia Lorenz (0-4) allowed six hits and four earned runs with three strikeouts and seven walks in six innings of work.

MVSU (1-7) will host Central Arkansas on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in its home opener.
