MONROE, La. -- The Mississippi Valley State softball team is set to begin the 2013 season Friday at the Mardi Gras Classic, hosted by Louisiana-Monroe. 

The Devilettes, who are coming off a SWAC regular season and tournament championship, will face Southeast Missouri State at 11 a.m. before taking on Northwestern State at 3:15 p.m.

Valley will play two additional games Saturday, with the first against Wichita State at 9 a.m. and a matchup against UC Santa Barbara at 7:30 p.m. 

MVSU will play its final game of the three-day classic against La.-Monroe on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.
