Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MONROE, La. -- The Mississippi Valley State softball team opened its season with a pair of losses Friday at the La.-Monroe Mardi Gras Classic. The Devilettes fell 3-2 to Southeast Missouri State in its first game before succumbing to Northwestern State 6-0.

Alexandria Robertson and Alexandra Sullivan had a pair of hits each against Southeast Missouri State. Kimberly Spivey suffered the loss, while working all six innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs. She also had six strikeouts.

In the final game, Kishti Kamaka accounted for two of MVSU's four hits as Northwestern State blanked the Devilettes using two runs in the first inning and four in the fourth inning.

Alicia Lorenz suffered the loss against Northwestern State, allowing nine hits and six earned runs.

MVSU will be back in action Saturday against Wichita State at 9 a.m. before taking on UC Santa Barbara at 7:30 p.m.
