Box Score TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Mississippi Valley State softball team fell 8-5 on the road at Alabama on Tuesday night at Rhoads Stadium.
The Devilettes (13-23) were tied with the No. 4 ranked Crimson Tide at three in the top of the fifth inning before Alabama added four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Alexandria Robertson hit a two-run homer -- her 12th of the year -- for MVSU in the seventh inning but it wasn't enough for a Devilette comeback.
Earlier in the game, Brittany Lilly accounted for Valley's first runs when she hit a two-run single down the left field line. Then in the fifth, Robertson tied the game at 3 when she hit a RBI-double to left center field. Robertson finished 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.
Alicia Lorenz (6-13) gave up eight earned runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts for the Devilettes.
MVSU will be at home Friday when they host Alabama A&M at 6 p.m.
