Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ITTA BENA -- The Mississippi Valley State softball team finished off a sweep over Alabama A&M with two wins Saturday against the Lady Bulldogs.

MVSU (16-23, 7-2 SWAC) defeated A&M 7-0 in the first game and 8-0 in the final game on the day that Valley recognized its five seniors: Alexandria Robertson, Nicole Burr, Alexandra Sullivan, Alicia Lorenz and Kimberly Spivey.

With the victories, the Devilettes sit in second place in the SWAC Eastern Division.

In the opening game, Natalia Covarrubias led Valley with three hits while Omeshia Moffett added two. The Devilettes scored all seven runs in the fifth inning. Alicia Lorenz (7-13) didn't allow a hit in five innings of work with six strikeouts.

In the final game, Valley put up six runs in the fourth inning. Yasmin Battle and Nicole Burr led MVSU with a pair of hits each. Lorenz allowed just two hits with six strikeouts in five innings of work.

MVSU will be back at home Wednesday when they host Memphis at 5 p.m.
