Devilettes win 2 of 3 games at Alcorn State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 LORMAN -- The Mississippi Valley State softball team won two of three games this weekend at Alcorn State.

The Lady Braves won the first game 2-1 on Friday before the Devilettes took game two, 9-4. The on Saturday, Valley came away with a 8-2 victory over Alcorn.

MVSU (20-27, 11-4 SWAC) will finish out its regular season schedule Thursday when they face Alabama State in two makeup games. The first of two games will pick up where the March 29 game was halted in the third inning.

Game one
Alicia Lorenz gave up two earned runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts on the mound for the Devilettes. Alexandra Sullivan and Brittany Lilly led Valley with two hits apiece.

Game two
MVSU scored six first inning runs racked up 10 hits in the 9-4 win over Alcorn. Jahcenda Garrett accounted for three of Valley's 10 hits while Yasmin Battle chipped in with two hits. Kimberly Spivey earned the win, allowing just two hits and no earned runs with four strikeouts.

Game three
The Devilettes scored five runs in the first two innings and compiled 16 hits. Lilly finished 4-for-4  while Nicole Burr added three hits and three RBIs. Lorenz earned the win, allowing two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts.
