MEMPHIS -- Playing in front of a host of family of friends in her hometown, Mississippi Valley State's Kahdejah Stevens had the best game of her career Friday night.
The Memphis native had a career best output in points (10) and rebounds (13) in a 62-39 road loss at the University of Memphis at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
Stevens, a Trezevant High alum in her first season at Valley, connected on 5-of-12 shots and had four of her 13 boards come on the offensive end. It was the most impressive game of her young career, surpassing her previous career-best total of seven points and eight rebounds.
Stevens got some help from A'Shanti Weathers, who paced the team with 14 points, and Christina Reed, who had a career-high 12 rebounds paired of five points.
Valley shot 25 percent on the night and Kadesha Floyd accounted for two of the team's three 3-pointers. The Devilettes beat the Tigers in the rebounding category 44 to 40.
After a break for the holidays, the Devilettes will close out its non-conference slate on Dec. 28 at the University of Alabama.
