Box Score NORMAL, Ala. -- Mississippi Valley State racked up 12 hits and took advantage of five Alabama A&M errors Friday in a 9-8 win to end a three-game scoring drought.
The Devilettes (8-32, 6-6 SWAC) scored five runs in the fourth inning and added two in both the sixth and seventh inning. Valley's Omeshia Moffett, Tracey Williams and Brandi Williams each had two hits apiece for MVSU. Meanwhile, Natalia Covarrubias chipped in a game-high three RBIs for the Devilettes.
Williams, Moffett and Covarrubias all had RBI-singles in the five-run fourth inning for MVSU. Valley took a 9-7 lead in the seventh inning on a RBI-single to center field by Annaisa Sanchez.
MVSU's Cassandra Rivera and Tenna Patterson combined for seven strikeouts.
The final two games of the series are set for Saturday. The first pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m.
