GREENWOOD, Miss. -- Mississippi Valley State's bench provided 36 points Saturday night but it wasn't enough to defeat the defending SWAC Tournament champions.
Prairie View A&M held off the Devilettes, 78-61, at the Leflore County Civic Center. MVSU dropped to 2-15 (0-6 SWAC) while Prairie View improved to 7-11 (4-2 SWAC).
Kadesha Floyd scored a career high 14 points off the bench for Valley while Taylor Green added 12. Kahdejah Stevens contributed 10 off the bench for the Devilettes.
Floyd connected on 4-of-9 three pointers and provided the Devilettes with a spark throughout the game.
Valley climbed back from a 13-point first half deficit and went into halftime down just, 38-32. But the Devilettes couldn't get any closer in the second half and the Lady Panthers walked away with the victory.
Jeannette Jackson led Prairie View with 22 points.
The Devilettes shot 35 percent in the game, including 7-of-24 from behind the 3-point line.
MVSU will be back in action Monday night at 5:30 p.m. against Texas Southern. ?
