ITTA BENA, Miss. --- The Mississippi Valley State University women's soccer team dropped their home opener to the Lady Lions of Southeastern Louisiana University, 3-0.

Mississippi Valley State (0-2-0) were able to hold Southeastern to one goal in the first 45 minutes of the contest.

Head Coach N. Fabio Boateng said, "We made a lot of individual errors. We have to improve as individuals and as a team."

The Lady Lions scored their first goal one minute into the contest. Their second, third and fourth goals came in the 53rd, 77th and 75th minutes respectively.

Nykosi Simmons scored her first goal of the season on a pass from Amberly Halstead at the 79:26 mark.

SLU responded with their final goal of the contest at 86:26. The Devilettes' Katelyn Denton scored the final goal of the contest with the assist going to Ernestina Abambila.

Mississippi Valley State will be in action again on August 28 in Monroe, Louisiana, when they take on the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
