Itta Bena, Miss. ---Captain Nykosi Simmons paced the Devilettes with 5 goals as the Mississippi Valley State women's soccer program trounced the Golden Lions of Arkansas Pine Bluff 8-2.
Simmons scored using her pace and size outclassing the Golden Lions defense with five highlight worthy goals. Adding to the scoring were Mariana Balboa, Heather Craddock, and Laadi Issaka.
"I was in the right place to score goals and I'm excited to that I was able to do so well," stated Simmons.Â
Issaka added four assists for MVSU. Issaka stated "I enjoy playing my current position because it creates oppportunities." Ernestina Abambila, Haley Hendricks and Balboa each added one assist in their domination of the Golden Lions.
Sydney Newport recorded three saves in the box for the Devilettes, while allowing two goals in the second half.
Mississippi Valley starts conference play on September 25
th on the road in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, against the Lady Jaguars of Southern University.
