ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Devilettes soccer team's third consecutive game went into overtime. With a tie against Howard and a 1-0 win over Jackson State in overtime; MVSU played Southern University to double overtime. The contest appeared to be heading into another draw.

The 90-minutes of regulation were a flurry of activities and close calls, however both teams remained scoreless.

The first overtime period was an extension of the 90-minutes that preceded it. During the second, overtime with less than two minutes remaining on the clock Laadi Issaka was fouled inside the goalie box.

Mariana Balbao lined up for the penalty kick (one-on-one against the goalkeeper) and landed a swift goal into the right side of the net.

The Lady Jaguars fired off eight shots with one being on goal and Mississippi Valley landed 15 shots with seven shots on goal.

Rita Gyasi recorded one save, while SU's Victoria Mendes recorded six saves.

The Devilettes will be back in action on Friday, October 7 at 6:00 p.m., when they host Texas Southern University.
