Madison, Wisc. – The Mississippi Valley State Women's basketball team traveled to Madison, Wisconsin, to face-off against the Badgers of the University of Wisconsin. With temperatures dropping outside the Kohl Center, the Devilettes and the Badgers raised the temperatures to scorch the 2916 in attendance with an amazing athletic performance.
With a score of 103-61, as the final in favor of Wisconsin, it may appear that Mississippi Valley was outperformed. That couldn't have been further from the truth. In the opening quarter, MVSU scored 21-points while holding UW to 30. The second was a difficult period for the Devilettes as they were only able to put up three-points, while the Badgers were able to score 23. Trailing 53-24 at the half, Mississippi Valley had a tough road ahead.
In the third quarter, Wisconsin scored 24, however the Devilettes surged to score 20-points. In the fourth and final period, both teams entered the court with fire in their hearts and eyes. The Devilettes scored 17, while holding the Badgers to 26.
Christina Reed tallied 26-points to pace MVSU, she also added eight rebounds, five steals and two assists. Kenya Hailey and Lauren Elliot each scored 13-points. Reed's 26-points outpaced each of the other athletes on the court, with Wisconsin's Suzanne Gilreath scored the next highest with 21.
Mississippi Valley returns home to face Blue Mountain College on December 12 at 5:30 p.m.
