MONTGOMERY – The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes dropped Saturday's doubleheader to the Alabama State Lady Hornets, 6-1 and 14-2.
Game 1:
Mississippi Valley took an early lead in the top of the first. Deja Talton was tagged out at first on a right field to first basemen play, Jahcenda Garrett scored. MVSU held their lead until the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Lady Hornets were able to score three runs in the fifth and an additional three in the sixth to win the contest.
MVSU wrapped up the contest with one run, six hits and five errors; while Alabama State finished with six runs on nine hits and one error.
Game 2:
Alabama State held the Devilettes scoreless in the opening inning while scoring one run. In the top of the second, MVSU scored twice in the second. Dejanae Gage doubled to right center, earning two RBIs. Holly Brown and Ikeyia Alexander scored on the play.
The Lady Hornets scored three in the third, five in the third and five in the fourth. MVSU finished with two runs on five hits and three errors. Alabama State tallied 14 runs, 11 hits and no errors.
The Devilettes and Lady Hornets will meet in the rubber match on Sunday, April 24 at 1:00 pm.
