IRONDALE, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University softball season came to an end in the Southwestern Athletic Conference 2016 Tournament with a 9-4 loss to the Lady Braves of Alcorn State University.
Alcorn State was able to score every inning they stepped into the batter's box, with the exception of the fifth. In the first the Lady Braves scored two runs, in the second they scored three more. In the third inning ASU scored an additional run.
In the top of the fourth, the Devilettes made their presence known with two runs. Deja Talton doubled to left field to score Kailyn Dunn and Jahcenda Garrett. The Lady Braves scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead.
In the top of the fifth, MVSU scored their final two runs and Alcorn wrapped scoring in the bottom of the sixth with one run. Sharia Comier doubled to center field to score Holly Brown. Kailyn Dunn grounded out to the second baseman to score Comier.
In the pitcher's circle, Rebekah Clinton pitched six innings. She allowed 11 hits, nine runs, nine errors while facing 34 batters. She also recorded two strikeouts.
