ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Devilettes and Lady Jaguars clashed on the hardwood during Mississippi Valley's Think Pink Contest. Southern squeaked out with the win, 62-51.
Christina Reed's return to the hardwood resulted in a different tempo and flow of the team. Reed contributed five points, three steals, two assists and one rebound. Ashley Beals paced the team with 23-points, 15-rebounds, one assist and one block. Kristy Parker 10-points, three rebounds and one assist.
Prior to the starting lineups being announced, Beals and Reed were recognized for reaching the elusive 1000 career points.
The first and second quarters evenly matched, with Southern taking a two-point lead into the halftime break. The third period, the eight-point spread built by the Lady Jaguars, proved to be the tipping point of the contest.
The Devilettes will travel to Prairie View, Texas, to face the Lady Panthers of Prairie View A & M University on Saturday, February 18 at 3:00 p.m.
