Devilettes’ Season End at 71-61

GRAMBLING – (Women's Basketball) Entering Grambling, Louisiana, the Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball team understood the task set before them. Despite the Lady Tigers of
Grambling State winning 71-61, the Devilettes maintained the pressure.

MVSU did not allow the GSU to score until the 6:20 mark of the opening quarter, after going up 4-0. The first ended in favor of Mississippi Valley, 11-9.

During the second the atmosphere began to shape up as the fans began to arrive in droves. MVSU was not alone as they had the support of the Mean Green Marching Machine and Satin Dolls. On the court, the pounding of the ball rocked the hardwood as Grambling State began to climb back into the contest. With a score 31-27, in favor of GSU headed into the break, the game could go either way.

A deadlocked third period meant all focus was centered on the final 10-minutes. GSU was able to edge past the Devilettes 24-18 to maintain the momentum and the victory.

Ashley Beals, in her final appearance in a MVSU jersey, finished with 22-points, 11-rebounds, two steals and one assist. Kenya Hailey tallied13-points, seven-rebounds and two rebounds. Kristy Parker mustered 12-points and four steals.
