OXFORD – (Softball) The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State faced two tough opponents in the University of Tennessee and Nicholls State.
UT-Martin jumped on the board early, in the top of the first. They scored two runs in the third and twice more in the seventh. Mississippi Valley's lone run came in the bottom of the fourth.
The Devilettes finished game one with one run on three hits and one error, while UT-Martin tallied five runs on seven hits and one error.
Jezabelle Quintana received the loss for Mississippi Valley.
In game two, the Devilettes faced some familiar faces in the Lady Colonels of Nicholls State. Nicholls outscore Mississippi Valley 8-1, in seven full innings.
MVSU was unable to score until the fourth inning, NSU was able to build a solid lead, scoring once in the first, three in the third and fourth and once in the fifth.
The Devilettes' bats weren't silent as they finished with three hits and one error. Nicholls tallied nine hits and one error.
