Going out in style: Issaka nets hat trick in last home match

ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University concluded their regular season Thursday with a 5-2 win over in-state rival Alcorn State.

In her last home match as a Devilette, Laadi Issaka recorded a hat trick to lead the Devilettes to victory. She also added an assist on a goal by fellow senior Karenth Zabala-Terrazas.

The Devilettes (5-9-4, 2-5-3 SWAC) also got a goal from Brooklyn Hudson, who was playing in only her second soccer match of the season. Hudson is also a member of the Mississippi Valley State volleyball team.

Zabala-Terrazas assisted on two of Issaka's goals. Freshman Aryana Saenz also added two assists for the Devilettes.

The Devilettes can still make the postseason Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament if Jackson State defeats Southern in Baton Rouge.

Regardless of whether or not Valley makes the postseason, Thursday's match marked the final home contest for seniors Zabala-Terrazas, Issaka, Stephany Adomako, Rhonique Alexander, and Syndey Newport.
