Mississippi Valley State 9, Miles College 3
PLEASANT GROVE, Ala. – Mississippi Valley State picked up its first win of the season with a 9-3 victory over Miles College Friday afternoon.
MVSU jumped ahead quickly with a five-run first inning – highlighted by a two-run double from Ikeiya Alexander -- en route to a 7-0 lead after three. Miles managed to tack on three runs in the middle innings, but the Devilettes (1-8) added a run in the sixth and seventh to seal it.
Alexander, Lexany Terrones and Sharia Cormier each had two hits. Kailyn Dunn scored a run and drove in two runs. Deshonte Smith was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo home run.
Jazzmyn Shelton was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored for Miles.
