ITTA BENA, Miss. (Softball) Mississippi Valley's softball team split with the Lady Braves of Alcorn in Saturday's doubleheader. In game one the Devilettes prevailed 7-1 and in game two Alcorn took the contest 10-1 in five innings.
Mississippi Valley took an early lead in the first inning with one run scored. In the second inning, MVSU scored six runs. Alcorn was able to score their first and only run of the contest in the top of the third.
The remainder of the contest was scoreless; however, it was an exciting atmosphere at the MVSU softball field.
In between games, the Devilettes honored the hard work of three seniors: Alexandra Dobbins, Ikeyia Alexander and Chandler Ellis.
In the second contest Alcorn was able to overpower the Devilettes 10-1. The first and second innings were scoreless. In the third, the Lady Braves took a 4-0 lead over the Devilettes.
With runs scored in the fourth (two) and fifth (four) innings, Alcorn was able to build quite a lead. Mississippi Valley's one run came in the bottom of the fourth inning.
