ITTA BENA, Miss. (Softball) The Devilettes softball team took on the Lady Braves in their family and friends weekend on the campus of Mississippi Valley State. In Friday's contest, Mississippi Valley defeated Alcorn State 8-3.

Alyssa Montes took the win for the Devilettes in the pitcher's circle. MVSU scored eight runs on six hits and one error; while holding Alcorn to three runs on four hits and five errors.
The Lady Braves scored the first points of the contest with three runs in the second inning. Defensively, the Devilettes locked down any other attempts to score by Alcorn.

In third inning, Mississippi Valley's bats started ringing as they pushed in two runners. The fifth inning was lengthy as Alcorn couldn't contain the fire blazing through the Devilettes.

MVSU scored five runs during the inning to extend their lead. A final run by MVSU in the sixth wrapped up scoring for both teams.

The two will meet in a doubleheader on Saturday. Game time is slated for 1:00 and 3:00 pm.
