ITTA BENA, Miss. - Mississippi Valley State University head softball coach Lee Smith released the 2020 schedule.
The Devilettes will play 50 games throughout the season beginning on Friday, Feb. 7 with a road trip to Hattiesburg, Miss. against St. Louis.
MVSU will begin its home portion of the slate on Wednesday, Feb. 26 hosting LeMoyne-Owen in a doubleheader at the MVSU Softball Field.
Following their home opener, the Devilettes will host the MVSU Softball Legends Tournament on Friday, Feb. 28 through March 1. The three-day tournament will feature Florida A&M University, Tennessee State University, and the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The Devilettes will see the road for three tournaments this season. The University of Southern Mississippi Tournament kicks off the season from Feb. 7-9. Next is the SLU Mardi Gras Mambo hosted by Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 21-23. Their final weekend tournament is on March 6-8 at the Mississippi State Tournament.
Southwestern Athletic Conference play will kickoff in Itta Bena on Friday, Mar. 13 against Prairie View. Other showcase home weekend series are Jackson State on Mar. 27-28 and Alcorn State on Apr. 3-4.
The SWAC Tournament will take place in Gulfport, Miss. on May 5-8. The top-eight teams will play in the tournament.
Last season, Mississippi Valley State finished fifth in the SWAC east standings posting an 11-31 record.
