Montgomery, Al. - Sydnie Ward led the Devilettes with 11 points with 4 rebounds in a 77-64 loss for the Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team at Alabama State. Early on in the game The Devilettes struggled shooting the ball, but that didn't hinder them from fighting throughout the first half. Each quarter the point totals for the team increased, but The Hornets outscored The Devilettes in each quarter.
The bench for both teams played a huge part in the game. Jayla Crawford came off the bench and tallied a game high 22 points for The Hornets including eight for fifteen from the field.
Assistant Coach Roderick Woods spoke about the teams turnovers from the last game as a point of focus going into tonights match-up.
Both teams came out firing in the second half, but the hole The Devilettes were in after twenty minutes of play was to much to overcome.
Ayonna Cotten finished the game with 10 points to go along with her 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Devilettes are back in action Monday night against Alabama A&M, in Huntsville, Al.
