Lorman,Ms.- Mississippi Valley Devilettes come up short to the Lady Braves of Alcorn State by a score of 63-60 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon.
Ayonna Cotten lead the Devilettes in scoring with 16 points off the bench, on five of ten shooting from the field.
It was a back and forth battle between the Devilettes and the Lady Braves from start to finish. Mississippi Valley had a chance to take the lead late in the game with Azaria Howard on the free throw line, but she came up empty.
The Devilettes tried to stretch the game with late fouls but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Shelli Thigpen completed the game with 13 points and six rebounds to go along with Howard's 14 points and six rebounds.
Alcorn State finished the game with two players in double digits. LaRae Rascoe and Kirdis Clark both had 13 points.
The Devillettes head to Baton Rouge on Monday to continue conference play against the Jaguars. Tip off set for 5:30.
