HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University softball program received a masterful pitching performance from Daisy Page, but the offense could not break out of its slump in a 2-1 setback.

• Daisy Page had possibly the best start of her career Friday night, pitching a six-inning complete game for her longest start since 2019 while allowing a season-low four hits and whiffing four Lady Eagles despite wearing the loss.

 

• Brianna Alston picked up her first RBI of the campaign, scoring Demi Slater on a bang-bang play at the plate via a fielder's choice in the sixth to knot things up at one.

 

• Naomi Drake and Demi Slater collected the Devilettes' two base knocks on the evening with Slater motoring home on the fielder's choice.

 

• Jade Smith did not wield a bat on the night but was able to snag her first stolen base of her career, swiping second in the sixth to help advance Slater to third for the ensuing tying run. Smith pinch-ran for designated player Kayla Sanchez who reached on an error by first base the at-bat prior.

 
Mississippi Valley will wake up early Saturday morning for a breakfast time tussle with Houston Baptist at 8 a.m. before a rematch with the Lady Eagles at 2 p.m. in The Burg.
