ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State women's soccer program took its first lead of season when
Rahael Aka-Ety found the back of the net in the 24th minute but a hat trick by Southern's Lonnie Mulligan spoiled the party in a 3-1 Valley State setback.

Mississippi Valley State Top Performers
- Aka-Ety officially scored her first goal of the season and second of her career after getting robbed of a goal earlier in the season. She took two of the club's three shots on the afternoon, her third multi-shot outing of the year, and put the Devilettes in front for the first time with a score at the 23:47 mark.
- The goal was made possible with a double assist by Aryana Saenz and Bailee Washington, their fifth and first of their Valley tenure, respectively.
- Olujede Bridgewater had her second consecutive match with a shot-on-goal, placing her only shot of the day on-target.
- McKenzie McCarthy logged seven saves with a 70% stop rate and her 35th complete game over 39 career matches at Valley State (89.7%)
Notes
- The fifth-most accurate shooting team in the SWAC will most likely be moving up the ranks, landing two of its three shots on-target (66.7%).
The first place Jackson State Lady Tigers are the opponent on Sunday, a 1 p.m. kick at the Mississippi Valley Soccer Complex.
