ITTA BENA, MS – Mississippi Valley State University's women's basketball falls short to University of Louisiana-Monroe 73-62 despite comeback efforts.
The Devilettes had a slow start, ending the first quarter trailing behind ULM 24-7.
MVSU (1-3) trailed ULM (3-1) 48-23 going into halftime.
Leah Turner helped give MVSU signs of life by hitting three 3-pointers in the second quarter.
MVSU outscored ULM 13-10 in a comeback attempt led by
Jaylia Reed's seven points in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, MVSU shot 75 percent from the field and outscored ULM 26-15.
Despite the great effort, MVSU comes up short.
MVSU was led by
Jaylia Reed's 21 points and
Sh'Diamond McKnight's 18 points and seven rebounds.
Leah Turner added 12 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.
The Devilettes ended the game leading with 22 points in the paint, 21 points off the bench, and 11 fast break points.
Day 3 of the MTE on Saturday November 18, MVSU will face Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 1 p.m.
