ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Mississippi Valley State University's women's basketball falls short to University of New Mexico 68-45 on Monday night.
The Delta Devilettes displayed resilience and determination throughout the game, making their mark especially in the first quarter where they managed to keep the score close, trailing by only as much as 9 points.
Mississippi Valley State found themselves behind at halftime with a score of 38-24.
Leading the charge for MVSU was
Sadie Williams, who showcased her scoring with 10 points and 4 rebounds.
Sh'Diamond McKnight contributed 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Amberly Brown, who not only scored 8 points but also showcased her shot-blocking ability with an impressive 5 blocks.
One notable aspect of the game was MVSU's bench, which outscored the University of New Mexico 25-13.
Despite the commendable efforts from the team, Mississippi Valley State couldn't overcome the strong performance by the University of New Mexico, resulting in a 68-45 defeat.
MVSU's season record now stands at 1-8.
