HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes and Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs had their offenses going on Friday, but the Devilettes eventually succumbed 14-6 in the high-scoring affair.
The Devilettes opened up scoring in the first inning when Keisha White doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run but struggled to contain the high-powered offense of AAMU, giving up 14 runs.
AAMU pulled away for good with eight runs in the second inning. In the second the Lady Bulldogs scored two runs on a stolen base, an error scored one run for AAMU, Brooklyn Wallace doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, and Venice Sanders homered on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs.
Morgan Gutierrez was in the pitcher's circle for MVSU. Gutierrez went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 14 runs on eight hits and striking out one.
MyKaila Fleming went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes in hits.
