PRAIRIE VIEW, TX - Mississippi Valley State University's women's basketball falls to Prairie View A&M University 83-69 at the William Nicks Building on Saturday night.
MVSU opened the game in the first quarter trailing PVAMU 23-15 and shooting 41.7 percent from the floor. Going into halftime, PVAMU led MVSU 45-27.
PVAMU (5-8, 1-2 SWAC) used a 28-point third quarter to pull away and secure the victory.
MVSU (1-15, 0-3 SWAC) was led by three players scoring in double figures, led by
Lizzie Walker, who finished the game with a season high 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Leah Turner added 12 points and five rebounds off the bench, and
Jaylia Reed finished with 11 points and three steals.
Game Notes
- The game saw two ties. PVAMU led the entire game with the largest lead being 34 (5:13 remaining in the 4thquarter).
- Mississippi Valley State finished the night shooting 49.0 (25-of-51) percent from the floor and 36.4 (4-of-11) percent from beyond the arc.
- PVAMU won the rebounding battle 47-27.
- MVSU led with PVAMU in fast break points 24-14.
- PVAMU shot 40.8 percent (31-of-76) from the floor and 80 percent (16-of-20) from the free throw line.
- Lizzie Walker posted a career high 16 points, team high seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
- MVSU defense scored 23 points off PVAMU 23 turnovers.
- MVSU collected 15 total assists in the game.
